Brimming with vibrant bazaars, markets and shops, Pettah is the bustling commercial hub of Colombo. The streets are lined with many different shops overflowing with a mindboggling variety of products from fabrics, fresh fruits, vegetables and spices to jewelry, electronics, furniture and knick-knacks galore. Half the charm of Pettah is in its people, and their tireless dedication to providing customers with an excellent service. Their welcoming smiles, hardworking nature and ability to make each and every customer feel special, makes your experience all the more enjoyable and prompts you to return, time and time again. No matter how exhausted they are from being on their feet all day or transporting sales goods around the hot, dusty streets, the friendly people of Pettah will always go that extra mile to serve you as best as they can.

For my Personal project I decided to develop a coffee table Photography book that will enable the readers or the viewers of the book to experience the faces of Pettah. As mentioned earlier Pettah is the commercial hub of Sri Lanka enriched with various color but for my book a more unique approach is applied. i believe that both the simplest and the most sophisticated of photographic disciplines is in the form of black and white, thus bringing out the intricate detailing which are often left unnoticed. laser cutting was used in adding more depth into the book by carving the name "Pettah" on the front cover giving it more exclusivity. This will also show the exclusivity of the book rather than having a common printed title. In addition the book was further covered by a wrapper with a Pettah transporters front and back views. The first page of the book contains a Map of Pettah giving the reader a sense of direction and then the different people ranging from Basket Vendors to Tea Makers Portraits are Included.
